Privacy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

LaserMap lets you design city maps and export them as SVG files for laser cutting. You can use it without an account. This page explains which data is processed when you do, why, for how long, and what your rights are (GDPR articles 13 and 15–21).

Who runs LaserMap

LaserMap is provided by, and the controller for the data described on this page is:

Dlectronics Michaelstraat 30 5916 SN Venlo, the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK) no. 54477697

E-mail: info@dlectronics.nl

Your cookie choice

When you first visit, LaserMap asks whether it may use analytics cookies. Your answer is stored in your browser's localStorage (key lasermap-analytics-consent) so you are not asked again. Storing this choice is strictly necessary to respect it and needs no consent; nothing else is stored, and the value never leaves your browser. It stays until you change it with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the sidebar or clear your browser data.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

To pay for running the site, LaserMap shows ads from Google AdSense to visitors who are not signed in. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure them, and, if you agree, personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first through Google's consent message; you can change your choice there at any time.

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)) for advertising cookies; ads without cookies may be shown on the basis of our legitimate interest in funding the site (art. 6(1)(f)). Retention: determined by Google, see Google's cookie policy and data retention.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalized ads in My Ad Center.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics)

If you accept analytics cookies, LaserMap uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which features are used (for example searches, layer changes, text styles and exports), so the site can be improved. No map content, search text or exported file is sent. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the sidebar. Google's privacy policy.

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time via "Cookie settings". Retention: event data in Google Analytics is kept for 2 months by default; see Google's data retention settings and how Google retains data.

Map data and search

Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap. When you search for a place, your search text is sent to Nominatim by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (privacy policy). These services see your IP address, like any website you load content from. Search results are kept in memory for the duration of your visit so repeating a search does not contact Nominatim again. Map data and search © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).

Legal basis: our legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)) in showing the map and finding the place you ask for; the site cannot work without it. Retention: LaserMap stores nothing from these requests; OpenFreeMap and the OpenStreetMap Foundation apply their own log retention.

Maps you create without an account stay in your browser. The SVG export is made on your own device; nothing is uploaded.

Hosting and accounts

The site is hosted on Google Firebase, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and operation. Accounts are only used by the site owner to save maps; when signed in, saved maps are stored in Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage).

Legal basis: our legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)) in running the site securely and reliably. Retention: Firebase Hosting request logs are kept by Google for a limited period (see Privacy and Security in Firebase); LaserMap itself keeps no visitor logs. Google LLC processes this data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

Because LaserMap stores no data about visitors, most of these requests concern Google's systems; we will help you with them where we can. Send requests to the contact address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live.
